The Wayne County Museum is happy to announce we are recipients of a Grassroots Grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council.  Be on the lookout for the completion of our Traveling Trunk Initiative!

In short, this grant will implement hands-on primary sources in our local schools based off of regular social studies/history curriculum. The trunks will hold various reproduction items of uniforms, documents, etc that students can touch. It will also include descriptions of items, interactive worksheets for students, a ready-made PowerPoint for teachers, and class sets of Postcards of Wayne County books. To top it all off, the North Carolina Humanities Council wants to be a part of our unveiling event and publicize this project for us!

We are so excited! Thank you, North Carolina Humanities Council!

This project is made possible by funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit
and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
