2017 Grassroots Grant Awarded by the North Carolina Humanities Council

By: Rebekah Fitzgerald

The Wayne County Museum is happy to announce we are recipients of a Grassroots Grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council! Be on the lookout for the completion of our Travelling Trunk Initiative!

In short, this grant will implement hands-on primary sources in our local schools based off of regular social studies/history curriculum. The trunks will hold various reproduction items of uniforms, documents, etc that students can touch. It will also include descriptions of items, interactive worksheets for students, a ready-made PowerPoint for teachers, and class sets of Postcards of Wayne County books. To top it all off, the North Carolina Humanities Council wants to be a part of our unveiling event and publicize this project for us!

We are so excited! Thank you, North Carolina Humanities Council! #supporthumanities #SavetheNEH

***Stay tuned for updates as this project progresses towards completion.***

This project is made possible by funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit
and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
